Residency Activities

Minds in Motion

Richmond Ballet MINDS IN MOTION is a two week program that teaches fourth-grade students discipline, dedication and self-awareness by leading them through a series of choreographic movements which must be memorized and expanded upon in each class session. Dancers from Richmond Ballet will reside in the Highlands for 14 consecutive days, traveling to primary schools to teach Phys. Ed. classes. These dance professionals will teach the students “exercises.” A pianist accompanies all of the classes, adding another enriching dimension to the experience. The students must count the beats and measures of the music and learn the elements of rhythm (multiplication & division) in order to be successful in the program. When all the combinations are put together the kids become a dance ensemble.

Little Red Riding Hood

Conceived & Written by Michael McGill Music & Lyrics by Michael McGill Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house she goes.

Red Riding Hood, not so little anymore, and her pre-teen pals try to stay on the straight and narrow in the latest adventure from the Missoula Children’s Theatre, RED RIDING HOOD. The Big Bad Wolf, who is not so bad after all, and a friendly neighborhood Forest Ranger urge our heroes to stay true to the path, for in the Shadows lurk diversions and a sinister surprise or two.
